“I’ve been a member of a fair few branded gyms and met a number of Personal Trainers – some very good at specific training, some very impressive but lacking in personality, while others are simply just fit/toned and so they are “Personal Trainers” (but without any personality – which I can’t stress how important is for encouraging me). He’s been able to construct brilliantly thought-out routines specifically to me, based on what I wanted to achieve (which for me was general fitness, Tough Mudder / Spartan fitness, and perhaps to add a bit of muscle and tone), all the while still understanding and being conscientious of a recurring injury I have on my left ankle The plan changes according to my increasing ability, but first and foremost has been to devise methods of reaching my aims while also building strength in an injury-prone area without risking damage. All I can say is that I’ve really noticed the difference and improvement, even within the first few weeks. It’s now 3 months later and I’m still feeling improvement, and wonderfully, in more ways than I had expected. I’m pushing harder, I’ve definitely gained definition, I’m able to do more sets/reps/weight, 5-a-side football is amazingly no longer a complete aching burnout after 1 hour, and generally I feel fitter across the board. I am thrilled!!! I really do look forward to sessions at the end of work, which again is totally unexpected.

“I’m a 34 year old male who after being very active and sporty in my teens stopped quite abruptly and slightly ashamed to say haven’t done any proper exercise in 15-20 years! Aside from the odd dash to catch a bus or tube…or last orders! So with a ‘better late than never’ attitude I joined my new local gym and on my first day after quickly realising I was well out of my depth met Thomas after asking him for some help. Thomas’ knowledge and professionalism became immediately apparent. He’s patient and thorough with amazing attention to detail, going through the safe methods of using the equipment and the correct body position and posture to minimalize any chances of injury. His teaching points are fantastic and he picks up on everything which again filled me with confidence because it meant he’s obviously watching closely and fully engaged in you to notice things you often thought you only felt and weren’t even visible….he see’s all! He provided me with regular updated session plans with weights, rep’s, times, basically everything you need to work out on your own in between PT sessions and has a log at how you’re progressing which in turn is a great physiological tool. Thomas is the perfect balance of gym buddy and teacher and is always so enthusiastic and upbeat and happy to answer any questions and offer great advice and is just an all round lovely bloke.
Having now just finished my first full programme I’m so pleased with my fitness, physique and all round mental and physical well being. “I have had a rollercoaster relationship with exercise. I got to the point where I relied on classes at the gym so badly that one evening when a class was cancelled, I was so scared about not knowing what else to do I walked back out and went home.

“I’m a 25 year old guy and have been training with Tom for 6 months now.
I’m not a stranger to exercise and fitness (though discovered them later than most of my peers) but I find I perform best when I have a programme to work to and a goal to strive for.
I first got to know Tom by attending his HIIT classes and it was clear before I’d even approached him about personal training that he loves what he does and is as versatile as he is knowledgeable – often standing in for other classes, encompassing a wide range of skills (strength, cardio, flexibility and so on). But what stood out about Tom above the other trainers was his infectious personality – I defy anyone not to enjoy themselves being trained by him!

This personality translates into his sessions – he really gets to know you on a personal level, your motivation and principally, what you’re training for. In my case, my goal was to compete in obstacle course races (Tough Mudder etc) to a decent level, which is slap-bang in the middle of Tom’s wheel house as he lives for these events and adventure-exercise in general. This requires a broad and deep knowledge of exercise and Tom does not disappoint. He speaks with a great deal of personal experience and an encyclopedia of technical know-how.
He’s done several obstacle events, including Tough Mudders and Spartans and knows precisely how to train for them – I noticed a huge difference in my ability to get round the course comfortably and quickly after I’d trained with him for as little as a month. He really knows his stuff about functional training and is a great believer in it, rather than just copy-paste bodybuilding/roadrunning I’ve encountered before.
He’s great at reading his clients and knows when to push you a bit harder, so you’re constantly in that sweetspot between the end of your comfort zone and being pushed too far – something which quickly turns into benefits.
Above all, Tom produces personalised training better than no other I’ve seen. I can tell that everything in the sessions we do is geared toward my goal and is not taken out of some big PT playbook.
